Educational and psychosocial department

The Educational and Psychosocial Department contributes to the fulfilment of the EIDE's missions by supporting pupils in their academic, personal and social development and by promoting their well-being, fulfilment and inclusion.

In accordance with the law of 30 June 2023 on well-being and inclusion in education, the department takes a comprehensive, preventive and inclusive approach, based on the conviction that the well-being, fulfilment and active participation of students are essential levers for educational success.

 

In particular, it contributes to:
  • creating a safe, caring and inclusive school environment;
  • supporting pupils facing personal, social, psychological or academic difficulties;
  • promoting well-being, socio-emotional skills and civic participation;
  • preventing situations of vulnerability and school dropout;
  • promoting respect for children's rights.
The department works closely with teaching staff, management, families and internal and external partners, and contributes to the continuous improvement of practices within the school.

 

The department's services

The Educational and Psychosocial Department comprises several complementary services:
  • the psychosocial and academic support service (SePAS)
  • the socio-educational service (SSE)
  • the support team for students with special needs (ESEB)
  • the educational guidance and integration unit (COIS)
  • the student protection officer (DPE)
These services work in a coordinated and complementary manner for the benefit of students and the school community.

  • SePAS

    The Psychosocial and Educational Support Service (SePAS) supports pupils, their families and the school community in the personal, social, emotional and educational aspects of the educational journey.

    Within the framework of the Law of 30 June 2023 on well-being and inclusion in education, SePAS helps to promote the well-being, development, academic success and inclusion of each student, taking into account their individual needs and life situation.
    SePAS provides a neutral and supportive space, enabling pupils and their families to benefit from tailored support. Consultations are free of charge and strictly confidential.
     

    Missions and actions

    Psychosocial support
    SePAS intervenes in particular through:
      • individual consultations for pupils and their parents;
      • support in dealing with personal, family or relationship difficulties;
      • support in situations of vulnerability, discrimination or harassment;
      • collective actions tailored to identified needs.

     

    Academic support
    SePAS contributes to students' academic progress by:
      • preventing students from dropping out of school;
      • providing support in cases of learning or adjustment difficulties;
      • intervening in crisis situations at school;
      • providing guidance on academic and career choices, as well as on issues related to interculturality.

    Prevention and promotion of well-being
    As part of a preventive approach, SePAS works with the socio-educational service (SSE) and members of the teaching team to promote the well-being, fulfilment and development of pupils' socio-emotional skills, particularly in the following areas:
      • mental health;
      • emotional and sexual life;
      • addiction prevention;
      • responsible use of digital technology and social media;
      • non-violent communication, prevention of bullying and living together.

     

    Support and collaboration
    SePAS informs and supports students and their families in various areas, including:
      • access to financial assistance;
      • support with certain administrative procedures;
      • participation, in an advisory capacity, in meetings concerning students (meetings with parents, class councils, disciplinary councils);
      • collaboration with school medical services and management of individualised support plans (PAI), aimed at improving the support and integration of students with specific health needs.

    The SePAS team is multidisciplinary and composed of psychologists, social workers and educators.
    It works closely with students, parents, teachers, internal school services and external partners to ensure consistent and appropriate support.

  • ESEB

    The Special Needs Support Team (ESEB) supports pupils with special educational needs, particularly those with learning, attention, behavioural, communication or academic adjustment difficulties.
    In accordance with the law of 30 June 2023 on well-being and inclusion in education, the ESEB helps to promote the well-being, development, academic success and inclusion of each pupil, taking into account their individual needs, resources and school context.
    ESEB takes an individualised, collaborative and caring approach, aiming to encourage pupils to participate in school life and access learning in an inclusive environment.
     

    Missions and actions

    The ESEB's missions are to:
    • Identify and analyse the specific needs of students, in collaboration with teaching teams, families and relevant services.
    • Contribute to the implementation of support measures and reasonable accommodations in order to promote access to learning and participation in school life.
    • Support pupils throughout their school career, promoting their independence, inclusion and overall development.
    • Observe classes and, where necessary, offer targeted educational and teaching support, either individually or in groups.
    • Advise and support teaching teams, particularly in terms of differentiated teaching and adaptations.
    • Work in close partnership with teachers, tutors, parents and school management, with a view to co-construction.
    • Ensure the opening and monitoring of CIS (Commission for School Inclusion) files.
    • Coordinate exchanges between the school, the family and external professionals, in accordance with the legal framework and confidentiality requirements.
    • Organise and run information and awareness-raising workshops for pupils, parents and professionals on specific needs and school inclusion.
    Through its actions, ESEB contributes to the creation of an accessible, inclusive and diversity-friendly school environment, enabling each student to develop their full potential.
     

    Our team

    The ESEB team is multidisciplinary and composed of psychologists, remedial teachers, educators, qualified and graduate educators, and specialised teachers.
    It works closely with students, families, teaching teams, internal school services and external partners to ensure comprehensive, consistent and tailored support.

  • SSE

    The Socio-Educational Service (SSE) supports pupils on a daily basis and assists them in their social, personal and emotional development. It actively contributes to a caring, inclusive and participatory school environment, in line with the principles of the Act of 30 June 2023 on well-being and inclusion in education.

    The SSE takes a preventive and educational approach, placing the pupil at the centre of its actions and encouraging their active participation in school life.

     

    Missions and actions

    The socio-educational service has the following missions:
    • Support and accompany students experiencing personal, social or relational difficulties that may have an impact on their well-being and schooling.
    • Promote inclusion in education, taking into account the specific needs of each pupil and contributing to the implementation of appropriate measures.
    • Develop students' social and civic skills by encouraging respect, responsibility and commitment.
    • Encourage pupils' civic and democratic participation, in particular by supporting class representatives, pupil committees and other forms of representation and participation in school life.
    • Offer non-formal educational activities, particularly in supervised meeting spaces.
    • Set up projects, extracurricular and after-school activities, and prevention initiatives, in collaboration with teachers, the SePAS and other school services.
    • Work in partnership with families, in a spirit of dialogue, trust and respect, in particular by organising information and awareness-raising workshops.
    The extracurricular and after-school activities offered by the socio-educational service take place during the lunch break or after school and are aimed at secondary school pupils.
    The socio-educational service also coordinates the "Schüler hëllefe Schüler" project, which enables students in S4 to S7 to help students in S1 to S4 with their learning, thereby promoting solidarity, mutual aid and civic engagement.
    Through its comprehensive and caring approach, the socio-educational service aims to enable each pupil to find their place at school, participate actively in school life and flourish in a respectful, safe and inclusive environment.

  • COIS

    The School Guidance and Integration Unit (COIS) supports students in their educational and career guidance as well as in their integration within the school pathway, taking into account their skills, interests and personal circumstances.
    It contributes to the missions of EIDE by supporting students in the development of their educational and career plans, in accordance with the principles set out in the Law of 30 June 2023 on well-being and inclusion in education.

    Main missions

    The missions of the COIS are to:
    • support students in their guidance and orientation choices;
    • inform and advise students and families;
    • support school integration, particularly during transition phases;
    • collaborate with teaching staff and with services of the educational and psycho-social department.

     

    Our team

    The COIS is composed of teachers and professionals from the Psycho-Social and Educational Support Service (SePAS).
    It works in close collaboration with students, families and external partners in order to ensure coherent and appropriate support.

  • DPE

    The Student Protection Officer (DPE) ensures respect for and promotion of children’s rights within the school. The DPE contributes to guaranteeing a safe, respectful and protective school environment, in accordance with the Law of 30 June 2023 on well-being and inclusion in education.
    The DPE acts as a reference person for students, families and school professionals in matters relating to student protection and children’s rights.

    Main missions

    The missions of the DPE are to:
    • Promote and defend children’s rights within the school and vis-à-vis the competent external authorities.
    • Contribute to the protection of students, particularly in situations of vulnerability or where their physical or psychological integrity may be at risk.
    • Inform and raise awareness within the school community, notably through information and training activities on children’s rights.
    • Formulate proposals to improve procedures within the educational and psycho-social department (EPS) and within the school.
    • Collaborate with internal and external partners, in compliance with the legal framework and confidentiality requirements.

     

    Organisation

    The role of Student Protection Officer is carried out by two members of the educational and psycho-social team:
    • one member of the Social-Educational Service (SSE),
    • one member of the Psycho-Social and Educational Support Service (SePAS).
    They carry out this mission jointly and in close cooperation with the school management and the relevant services.
