Absences

Parents/guardians must inform the tutors and students office from the first day of absence. A written notification, in paper or electronic form should be communicated to the tutors in the three days following the absence. The only legitimate reasons for absence are illness on the part of the student, death of a close relative or a case of force majeure. The school may ask for a justification for the cases cited above.

For an absence exceeding 3 consecutive days, a medical certificate should be submitted by the fourth day of absence at the latest.

In the event of a prolonged absence (exceeding one week), parents will contact the tutors to agree on a process to catch up with the subject.

Leave requests

Apart from a case of certified illness, a student may only be excused from attending school if prior authorisation is given. Except in cases of force majeure, this authorization must be requested by parents at least three days in advance.

For an absence not exceeding one day, the request must be addressed to the tutor.

For an absence not exceeding five consecutive days, or when the cumulative total of absences is less than 15 days in the same school year, the request must be addressed to the director via the students office (secretariat@eide.lu).

For absences exceeding five consecutive days, or when the cumulative total of requests is above 15 days in the same school year, the request must be addressed to the ministry.
